Special Assistant to Delta State Governor on Security matters, Hon Basil Ishiekwene has said Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s style of handling issues between farmers and herdsmen in the State was yielding results. Ishiekwene spoke to newsmen on the sideline of the stakeholders meeting organised by the Delta State Government for Farmers, Herdsmen, Community leaders and Heads of security agencies at the Unity Hall, Government House Asaba penultimate week. The spokesman to Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has given details on the identity of those behind killings in Zamfara state. Imam, in series of tweets on Twitter, poured out his heart over the recurring attacks in the state. Imam lamented that the people were now in fear and disclosed how bandits regularly write to them, especially on market days, demanding for certain amount of money. Four elephants died as a result of clash while the herds were crossing the railway in northeast India on Saturday. The collision of the passenger train with the elephants caused the train toy derail luckily no passengers were injured, regional railways spokesman P.J. Sharma told AFP. Another elephant was seriously injured in the accident, he added. The elephants had gotten split up from a larger herd migrating through the hilly forest state, where train tracks cut across elephant corridors that act as transit routes for the wandering animals. Elephants in India number nearly 30,000 and are an endangered species. Railway authorities started speed restrictions on some routes that are designated elephant corridors. However, it is not yet clear whether this latest accident occurred in one of these zones. Four suspects were paraded on Thursday by the Oyo state police command, they were caught with human parts in the Ayegun area of Ibadan. The suspects include an Islamic cleric (Alfa) Sulaiman Hamed, 35, Tope Akinyele, 45, who claimed to be the pastor of a church in Ojagbo, in the Oranyan area of Ibadan and and two other accomplices, Olapade Saheed, 32, and Olatunji Abiodun, 26. Briefing newsmen at the Command headquarters, the state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Odude , said the Alfa, participated in the Fidau prayers for a dead man but later paid Saheed and Abiodun N2,500, to exhume the corpse because he needed the body parts for making money charm for his clients.
