The internet is like a world on
its own with lots of space to acquire for whatever purpose you desire. As a
result of this, some companies decided to buy large space online which enables
them to sell small space(s) to others to be able to be online, such
companies are called Hosting Companies.
This
companies thereafter sell the space they acquire to people in small sizes
according to the amount they can afford, to use for whatever purposes they
want. The hosting company has lots of work to do for whomever will buy space
from them.
1. They must always be available on the internet 24 hours a day and 7 days
a week. 2. They are also responsible for the upkeep of whatever space you buy
from them, making sure it is always accessible and available for your visitors.
3. They are to be available to guide and support you anytime you call for help.
These are just few of the services they render, for more information on hosting
company services, check my previous post.
When you, as an individual
decides to have a website online or publish it online, you will go to one of
these companies to purchase a hosting plan, for more information on hosting
company companies, check my previous post. There are different hosting plans
you can go for, these depends on the kind of website you are publishing and
your budget.
After purchasing an hosting plan, the next thing to do is to
obtain an address that people on the internet can use in locating you and this
is called a domain name (examples
are www.yourwebsite.com), this domain
name is what visitors will type in the address bar of their browsers to locate
you on the internet, once they type this, your homepage (index page of your website, where you have all your web
page links).
This is just an introduction to web development in basic terms,
